Malow Ali Higher Secondary School, also written Malowali, opened in 1953 in Dhekargorah, North West Jorhat. Today it teaches Classes IX to XII, with Assamese as the medium of instruction.

In 2018 its students helped build a nutrition garden in the school compound through Farm2Food Foundation’s FarmPreneur programme.

Shyamalima Borah

Principal since 2017

Shyamalima Borah has led Malow Ali Higher Secondary School since 2017. On Teachers’ Day, 5 September 2026, she received the State Teachers’ Award, one of fifteen teachers in Assam honoured this year.

She has also represented the school at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration in New Delhi.

Exam results, awards, a free eye camp and a club of their own.

A free eye camp for the village

On 8 September the school joined two Jorhat voluntary groups, Prayas and Maitri, to hold a free eye check-up camp. More than fifty people had their eyes tested and received glasses at low cost.

The school has adopted the village and is working to make it a model village: healthy, educated, clean and tobacco-free. Reported by Dainandin Barta.
